This was a game that we hadn’t had on our schedule in a few years and it was good to get it back. St. Elizabeth is a small school that always puts a strong product on the floor. I thought the ladies did a nice job of coming out ready to go; better than we had against Camdenton on Monday night. We hit three 3’s in the first quarter (2 by Sara, 1 by Carson) and that helped limit the size factor of their 2-3 zone. Payton was on fire as she scored six in the first frame and we jumped out to nine point lead. Our press was bothering them, but in the second, their defense stepped up and we couldn’t get shots to fall. We couldn’t press and they played better than us in a half court game. Sara hit a three with just a few seconds left to give a three point advantage in the quarter. The third quarter was decisive as our press wore them down and the girls scored many baskets in transition. Kerrigan, Carson, Payton, and Zoie all scored that way and we upped the lead by 12. The fourth quarter was a competitive one and I was pleased to see all of our players get valuable minutes as we move forward into the Christmas break.
