This was the conference opener for both teams and a rematch of an earlier OT game in conference tournament. Once again, we had a game that had two vastly different halves. The first quarter was well-played by both teams and we had five people score and that is always a good sign for us. When the scoring is spread out we are a more dangerous team.  Syd and Sara each hit a three and we got two points each on the inside from Liberty, Ella, and Alisa. Up two at the start of the second quarter, we only managed two points in the entire second frame. We had to deal with some foul trouble and we had a few too many turnovers. Fortunately our defense was able to answer the bell and held Hallsville to only six points and we were down 16-14 at halftime. After that first half, both teams stepped up their offensive games. We ended up being outscored 38-36 in the second half. During the third quarter Sara hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points to lead us, but we still went into the fourth down six. We would get down by even more before the girls started a furious rally to cut the lead to two with just about two minutes left. Liberty scored 16 of our 21 points and we had a couple chances to get stops and go score but weren't able to ever take the lead. It was a hard-fought game and once again, I am so proud of the way this group finds a way to always stay close or rally back. We had 23 turnovers and only attempted four free throws. Those two stats are going to spell trouble for us on any night as we usually don't turn it over a ton and we get to the line a great deal.
